An Apology to Peyton Manning

I know what you are thinking. An apology to Peyton Manning? What on earth for? Perhaps I should begin by reminding you that I'm a die hard Florida State and Jacksonville Jaguar fan. For years I have blamed my football ills on Peyton Manning. Ills? What ills? Like the last minute throw together wins he has put together in Everbank Stadium since I've been a season ticket holder. Ugh. Except of course for the 59 yard Josh Scobee field goal in the last second to beat the Indianapolis Colts this past season.  GLORIOUS. I digress... For some reason I have recalled the details of the FSU National Championship Game in Tempe, Arizona at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in this manner: Peyton Manning caused us to lose the National Championship. It was his fault. As is everything else (God Bless Him). Until I was reading the book "Grateful" by Ryan Sprague. With great embarassment, I realized it was Tee Martin who was the quarterback that fateful day. No matter, FSU won a National Championship the next year. With all the remorse out of the way... I ask:
How many National Championships did Peyton Manning win? None.
How many times did he beat Florida? None.
I feel bad, but not that bad.

Chad Kelly and FSU

My VERY good friend, LEEANGELA GARATE, called me the other day while she was in Tallahassee, and asked me what I knew about Chad Kelly. She said he was all the talk on Tallahassee Talk Radio and he was related to someone famous. Today, I decided to BING Chad Kelly. WOW. Impressive. Most Impressive. There was a Youtube video of him playing High School Quarterback (Link added below). The story goes that his buddy posted this video on Facebook and it started getting some interesting attention. He was already getting attention from small schools like Western Michigan. Then Jimbo Fisher, head coach of the FSU Seminoles, saw the video. Jimbo wants to recruit him to FSU to play quarterback. Guess who his uncle is? Jim Kelly, Hall Of Fame Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Hopefully, it runs in the family!!

SN-Jim Kelly played with Mark Richt at the "U"niversity of Miami.

Fan OTA's

While we are all wondering if NFL games will be missed next year or if ANY games will be played, Draft prospects and players are out there preparing for next season. They can still use team facilities at least for the next 7 days. After that, they will be on their own. So, if there is a lockout OTA's (Organized Team Activities) probably won't happen and training camp (a personal favorite- 1. FREE 2. Seeing what I'm going to be sweating for 3. Autographs 4. FREE) is in jeopardy.
Some suggest that there are 3 sets of people involved: 1. NFL Owners 2. NFL Players 3. NFL Fans . Some suggest that but not me. I know where my place is in all of this. I'm a bystander, onlooker. Yeah, I pay to be one. Certain rights are afforded to me, however, I never assert myself in these things. I want to see football. Period.
I said all of that to say this: Players might miss their OTA's. I'm not gonna miss mine. That's right. Fans have their own OTA's. What possible OTA's do fans have?
1. The first OTA for fans is the renewing of the season ticket or becoming a season ticket holder. It's an important OTA because, well, you want to have a guaranteed seat every game don't you? You want to have the same seat right? Most teams offer incentives, i.e. no interest for 10 months, etc. As a Jacksonville Jaguar Season Ticket Holder, I have 20 for 20. 20 Month interest free payment plan for 2 seasons worth of tickets. Last year, they gave out Teal Deals. A coupon booklet filled with discounts all over town and for all kinds of things. (if games are missed I get my money back, so who cares. Get some season tickets or there will be blackouts and my dog can't watch the game from home)
On the next several Blogs of Ramblings of a Football Chick, we will discuss more "Fan OTA's".

Apparently, You Can Find Football In Anything

I was feeding my obsession about the Shamrock Shake the non-caloric way: reading about it!! I have been in the past slightly obsessive about finding them. Driving from McDonald's to McDonald's looking for the March Madness of Milk Shakes. However, MSN actually had an article about it today.
http://www.delish.com/food/recalls-reviews/shamrock-shakes-are-back-again
You will also read how the Shamrock Shakes were started and that they actually have a charity attached to them! Who knew? I make it my mission to find football in everything.
So I mentioned Julio Jones and he fractures his foot. It will require surgery and pins.
Marcus Stroud, former Jaguar, has signed a 2 yr deal with the Patriots. Am I missing something? Bill Belichick.....you are an enigma.
